Summary:

DOON…
Veronica doesn't think she's going crazy. But why can't anyone else see the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes? When her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland, Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind for a few months.
But the Scottish countryside holds other plans.
Not only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from Mackenna's great aunt—and when the girls test the instructions Aunt Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that defies explanation. Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica's daydreams. But Doon has a dark underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they've longed for...or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.

Review:
This book starts with Veronica, a smart and hardworking girl that starts seeing a mysterious blond boy in random places. Her best friend Mackenna invites to spend the summer in Scotland and they both depart on a summer adventure to the good old commando dudes land (when they wear kilts they don't wear panties).
But what they don't know is that an epic adventure awaits them... Not only the strange boy keeps popping up, and no one else but Veronica sees him, but they also find an odd set of rings and a strange letter from Mackenna's deceased great aunt.
When the girls follow the instructions on the letter they find themselves transported to another world: Doon.
This new world is strange and, to make everything stranger, the boy that Veronica has been seeing appears. The girls find themselves in the middle of a battle between unthinkable forces and they have to help the citizens of Doon because their own survival depends on it.
I think I may have overdone the intro but this book is so complex and beautiful that I wanted to take the time to present it nicely to you so you can get a little peek into this marvellous story.
Not only the world is exquisite, using a light mix of modern commodities and middle age aspects but also because of the depth and complexity that was given to this characters.
The book is written in two very different points of view and that's something that makes it stand out from other YA Fantasy books: you don't feel inside one character's head, you feel inside two character's heads and I have to state that that's amazing.
All the elements in this book blend well together and everything is exactly where it needs to be so you can have the best reading experience.
I don't need to make this any longer because I've said it all so I'll finish by recommending this book to everyone, it doesn't matter if you like " A Song of Ice and Fire " kind of books or if you prefer Jane Austen, this story has something for everyone!
