Summary:
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Review:
In a world where faeries do exist and are immensely feared, the young huntress Feyre kills a beast-like wolf in the woods, while searching for food, in order to feed her family and a scary creature appears at her doorstep claiming her in trade of the life she took.
As the time goes by, Feyre discovers that her captor isn't a beast but a cursed and very powerful faerie and as she discovers every inch of his estate she also learns about faeries and the problems they have to face.
A shadow is growing in Feyre's new world and she has to face secrets that the Fae hide, in order to save Tamlin, whom she starts developing feelings for and also his friends and people.
I really don't know how to start reviewing this book. Maybe I'll start by stating that this is an exceptional piece of work and that I loved every single word written within it.
I was told this is a retelling of "The Beauty and the Beast" but my opinion differs, in my mind, this is a whole new take on those two characters. Belle has nothing to do with Feyre and Monster has nothing to do with Tamlin but you can see the basic lines of the story, the rest of the book is totally new!
How a person is capable of taking a faerie-tale and transform it into a whole new novel with a brand new plot and brand new characters in a new world!
My mind isn't able to wrap itself around the "amazingness" of this story and I waite anxiously for the next instalment of this series.
If you love thrilling and magical retakes on old stories you'll certainly love this book.

  4. People praise this book so much and I started reading it a few months back owing to all great reviews. But, I didn't quite like it and I found it over hyped. I left this book midway. But, I do want to give it a try again some time in future.
    Nice review by the way!

  5. I enjoyed this one as well (though probably not half as much as you did). I like her spin on Beauty and the Beast. :)
